Born in 1981, A.J.S. Kinney is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As a child, the natural beauty of the Coast inspired her artistic development. After commencing her artistic studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, A.J. moved to Chicago and received her BGA from the School of the Art INstitute of Chicago in 2004. With an emphasis in painting and drawing, A.J.’s focus was primarily on figurative work with focus on human anatomy. From the early 200’s to 2013 A.J. resided in Chicago as a freelance artist. There she was motivated by the urban landscape and created bodies of work revolving around the Chicago skyline and figurative sculpture throughout the city. A.J. moved to New Orleans in 2014 and is currently painting in the French Quarter. She captures the essence of the vibrant architecture and people of New Orleans. She presently has two distinct bodies of work. One consists of painting her environment and the other of pure abstraction. The Expressionist hand with emphasis on color and design creates a core for both bodies of work. Her work is now sold internationally as she she thrives in the truly unique environment of New Orleans.
